CPSA verdict

Volvo EX30 takes it — but only if you can stretch to R880k

The EX30 wins on outright performance, charging speed and safety. The Atto 3 wins on space, value and warranty length. The Ora 03 wins on outright affordability and home-charge time, but loses range and refinement in return.

If your budget is firm at R700k, take the Ora. If you need 7-seater money worth of practicality from a 5-seater, take the Atto. If you want the most rounded car here and don't mind paying for it, the EX30 is the one.

Pick the BYD Atto 3 if…

You need real boot space, V2L for camping, and the longest warranty.

Pick the Volvo EX30 if…

You want the best EV here overall — fastest, safest, longest range. Pay-to-play.

Pick the GWM Ora 03 if…

Price is the deciding factor and you do mostly city driving under 200km/day.
